Parks in Marion

Marion Athletic Park- 132 N Parkview Ave
Located on County Road S and North Parkview Avenue, it is home to many high school and community sports.  Here you will find a baseball/football field, softball field and a youth league field (lower ball field).  The two upper fields are home to the Marion High School Mustangs.  These fields hold many games not only for High School, but also for boys and girls summer league programs, and the BABA League. Support the student and adult athletes while sitting in the covered stands, enjoying food and drinks from the concession stands.  Restrooms are available.  While there, check out the playground and skate park!

 

 Lions Point Park- 327 W Garfield Ave

Located at the end of West Garfield Avenue, Lions Point Park hold many activities year-round.  You will find a boat and kayak launch, two docks, fishing, swimming area with sandy beach, swim raft, playground, benches, picnic tables, small shelters to shade you from the sun, secured charcoal grill, and outdoor restrooms.  On the south side of park, there is an open covered shelter with tables, outside tennis court, sand volleyball and in 2025 pickle ball courts will be installed allowing for plenty of family fun for an entire day.  Lions Point shelter is an enclosed facility with indoor restrooms, which can be rented for larger functions.

Wallace Park- 800 W Ramsdell St

Located off County Road S.  This park is a large attraction for fishing year-round and ice races in the winter.  The boat and kayaking launch allow you to get into the water to enjoy this end of the Marion Millpond.  There is an open shelter with picnic tables and a secured charcoal grill for family gatherings in the summer.  Outdoor restroom are at this park.

 

Veteran's Memorial Park- 291 Mavis Rd

Located on Mavis Road, has a multitude of colors throughout the year.  In spring, there are beautiful flowering crab trees, during summer you can rest under the many shade trees, in fall enjoy the spectacular colors, and winter brings the snow-covered evergreens.  Take a walk on the paved walking trail while enjoying the prairie loaded with native flowers, butterflies and birds.  Spend time with family and friends in the covered open shelter or relax on any of the many park benches along the trail, while grilling out on the secured charcoal grill.  This is also a very special place, which pays tribute to and respect to those who serve or have served in our Military.  Military Veterans are listed on the Granite Walls at the front of the park.  Veteran's Park is waiting to be enjoyed by all.  This park does have restrooms.  

 

Cannon Park- 126 S Parkview Ave
Located at the end of East Garfield and South Parkview Avenue, Cannon Park is a triangular shaped park.  This little park has plenty to offer with its large playground, basketball court, small covered shelter with picnic table, and huge, beautiful shade trees.  An old military cannon is on the corner where the two streets come together.

 

 Legion Memorial Park- 401 N Main St

A picnic table is availableActivities include swimming. No restrooms are available. 

 

Disc Golf- located at 132 N Parkview Ave.

Discs can be rented out at the Marion Public Library located at 120 N Main Street.

 

Sledding Hill-located at 132 N Parkview Ave.
Featuring a 50-foot drop. The hill is lighted every night from 4 PM-10 PM. Restrooms are available, an open shelter with picnic tables and a fire ring to build a warming fire.

 

PAPA's Walking Trail

starts and ends at the baseball field.  It is approximately 1.25 miles through hardwoods, lowlands, prairie and meadow.  The trail is well maintained with slight roots/small rock, generally flat with some slight to small hills.  On this trail you will find a large grassy hill that can be hiked up, if you are up for a challenge!  In winter, this same hill is Marion's sledding hill.
