Licences & Permits

A person must be at least 18 years old to sell or serve alcohol and/or be issued an Operator's License.  The Operator's License is valid only within the City of Marion.  A current Operator License issued in one municipality does not automatically guarantee approval in a second municipality.  

The Marion Police Department performs a background check on all applicants.  Should they find the information on your application NOT correct or illegible, your license may be denied.

Proof of the Responsible Beverage Server Training is required.  Training is available in person at Wisconsin Technical Colleges or online via the Department of Revenue website/approved courses.

The City of Marion charges $30 per application.  If your application is denied by the City Council, the fee is non-refundable, and you cannot reapply until the next license year. 

•  $50.00 fee required up front for processing of application.  Payment does not guarantee approval of permit.

•  If approved, the permit is valid for 1 year from the date of approval.

•  Permits are issued to individuals, NOT businesses.  Each individual person seeking permission to be a direct seller in the City of Mairon must complete a separate application.

The owner of any dog or cat more than five (5) months of age on January 1 of any year, or five (5) months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog or cat becomes five (5) months of age, pay a license tax and obtain a license.

The minimum license tax under this Section shall be Five Dollars ($5.00) for spayed females or neutered males.  The minimum fee for unsprayed or unneutered animals shall be Ten Dollars ($10.00).  These amounts shall be reduced by one-half (1/2) if the animal became five (5) months of age after July 1 during the license year.  The license year shall commence January 1 and end December 31.

Rabies Vaccination.  The owner of a dog or cat shall have the dog or cat vaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian within thirty (30) days after the dog or cat reaches four (4) months of age and revaccinated within one (1) year after the initial vaccination.  If the owner obtains the dog or cat or brings the dog or cat into the City of Marion after the dog has reached four (4) months of age, the owner shall have the dog vaccinated against rabies within thirty (30) days after the dog or cat is brought into the City unless the dog or cat has been vaccinated as evidenced by a current certificate of rabies vaccination. 

Per City Ordinance the limit of pets is 2 dogs and/or 2 cats per residence.  

24-hour on street parking is not allowed. Any vehicle left on the street in excess of 24-hours is considered abandonded and is subject to ticketing and towing.

The parking of commercial vehicles, such as semi-tractors, trucks (not including pickup trucks), etc., is not allowed in a residential section.

The City of Marion Winter Parking restrictions are effective from November 1^st until March 31^st. The ordinance restricts parking of any vehicle on City Streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Violators are subject to a $25.00 parking citation and if need be the towing of their vehicle.  These parking restrictions assist our County and City road maintenance crews keep our streets and highways clear of snow and ice in order to ensure safe winter roads.

No one under the age of 18 years old shall be on any street, alley or any other public place between 10:00pm to 6:00am Sunday through Thursday or between 11:00pm to 6:00am on Friday and Saturday.

Park curfews are from 10:00pm to 6:00am Sunday through Thursday and from 11:00pm to 6:00am on Friday and Saturday.
