Water & Sewer Departments
Utility Superintendent - John Bork - 715-754-2616 or jbork@cityofmarionwi.gov
The City of Marion contracts the operations of their water and sewer utilities to Midwest Contract Operations, Inc. (MCO).
Water
The Water Utility is currently made up of one water tower, 2 active wells and 119 fire hydrants which serve water and public fire protection to approximately 670 customers. The Water Utility is regulated by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
CCR Report
The City of Marion is proud to present the annual water quality report, the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). Testing is done per DNR requirements and results are available July 1st of each year for the previous calendar year. The City of Marion is dedicated to producing drinking water to meet all water standards. In this report, you will find information about the source of your drinking water, results of water quality testing and compliance with water laws. This report is available to everyone and can be viewed by clicking on the side link or at City Hall.
Hydrant Flushing
The City of Marion Utilities flush fire hydrants in August of each year to help remove sediment and other minerals that can settle in water mains. By flushing fire hydrants, we make sure hydrants are working properly, both from a water quality and firefighting perspective. The City of Marion Utility communicates dates of hydrant flushing by publishing in the Marion Advertiser and on the City of Marion website. When hydrant flushing is taking place, you may find discoloration in your water. Stop using the water, wait 30 minutes, then draw off the discolored water through a cold water tap for 5 to 10 minutes. Repeat these steps, if necessary.
Wastewater
The City of Marion Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in 2002 and meets all DNR and EPA discharge requirements. The Marion Wastewater Treatment Plant is not regulated by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. A reminder that all properties with sump pumps cannot discharge into sanitary sewers.
Utility Board
The Utility Board consists of five members, including the Mayor, one alderperson, and three citizens appointed by the Mayor subject to Council confirmation. The three citizen members are staggered for three-year terms. The board has such duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Mayor and the City of Marion Code of Ordinances, and to make whatever recommendations to the Council as it deems appropriate or as may be directed by the Council.
Utility Board Members include: Mayor Chris Goke, Neal Westemeier, Adam Keller, Gerald Wilie and Mike Williams.
